SAGWAN leads GAD planning, budgeting for FY 2026

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—The Samar State University’s Advocacy on Gender and Women Advancement for National Development (SAGWAN) is currently leading the GAD Planning and Budgeting 2026: Planning Beyond Attribution today, May 28, 2025 at the Casa Cristina Hotel, Catbalogan City.

The two-day workshop, attended by the heads and GAD coordinators of all SSU offices, seeks to identify priority gender concerns and design interventions that will contribute to a responsive university environment.

SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia graced the activity with a welcome remark where he emphasized the University’s openness in tackling and addressing gender issues. Dr. Palencia also encourage the attendees to grab the opportunity to learn the know-how in planning and budgeting.

The morning session was led by Mr. Leo Christian V. Lauzon of the Philippine Commission on Women (National Gender and Development Resource Program) who discussed the first lecture on Policy Imperatives: Gender Analysis and Gender Tools. In the afternoon session, Mr. Lauzon further tackled GAD planning and budgeting.

The second day will focus on workshops and presentation of outputs as SAGWAN gears up for its programs, plans, and activities for Fiscal Year 2026.
