PALO, Philippines — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) including Samar State University during the Gawad Parangal 2025 held today, May 27, 2025 at the Mary Ngo Hall, Saint Paul School of Professional Studies, Palo, Leyte.
The University’s topnotchers in various licensure examinations were recognized, including Maria Sharalene Lamoste (10th Placer, March 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary Level), Stephanie Ruth Ocampo (4th Placer, March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary Level), Jason Paul Amatosa (7th Placer, March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary Level), Bituin Rumol and Diosa Amistoso (8th Placers, March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary Level), and Rodelyn Moreno (9th Placer, March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers –Elementary Level).
SSU was also given various recognitions, including its ranking in the 801-1000 bracket of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024, its ranking of 117th in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2024: Global Top 300 Innovative Universities, and its credit as a Top Performing School (Rank 7 Nationwide) in the November 2024 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination.
The awards were conferred by the Director of CHED Region Office VIII, Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, and was received by SSU President, Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, and the topnotchers themselves.
The Gawad Parangal 2025 was attended by HEI Presidents, representatives, and honorees of the Eastern Visayas region and as a showcase of value to HEIs’ efforts and accomplishments in various core functions.
