CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU), through its health research experts, supports the Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) with the study, “Relationship between social support and psychological distress in nursing students: The mediating role of school-life interference,” published in the Scopus-indexed Journal of Professional Nursing.
The study was authored by SSU faculty members, namely Dr. Rheajane A. Rosales, Dr. Leodoro J. Labrague, Dr. Dolores L. Arteche, Begonia C. Yboa, Jeanette B. Sabio, Charmaine R. Quina, Lawrence Quincy Quiano, Mary Ann Apacible, and Maria Caroline Santos and Nemia de Leon Calimbas of the Bataan Peninsula State University.
Published in Volume 57 (March-April 2025 Edition), the study examined the relationship between social support and psychological distress in nursing students, in relation to the extent to which school-life interference mediates this relationship. The authors concluded that social support plays a crucial role in mitigating school-life interference, which subsequently reduces psychological distress among nursing students.
