Historic Feat: 5 SSU Alumni Earn Top Spots in March 2025 LEPT

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines The celebration continues for the five alumni of Samar State University (SSU), who have made history by securing top ranks in the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). This marks the first time SSU has produced multiple topnotchers in a single licensure exam, a remarkable achievement that brought immense honor and pride to the university.

Stephanie Ruth Ocampo obtained the fourth spot in the secondary level LEPT with an impressive rating of 93.40%. Joining her among the topnotchers are Jason Paul Amatosa who placed seventh with a 92.60% rating, and Bituin Rumol and Diosa Amistoso who both place eighth with a 92.40% score. Ocampo majored in Mathematics during her undergraduate years at the SSU College of Education; meanwhile, Amatosa majored in Social Studies, and Rumol and Amistoso both majored in Science.

Furthermore, SSU’s success extends to the elementary level, where Rodelyn Moreno earned ninth place with a rating of 92.80%, making her the University’s sole topnotcher along this category. Moreno leads the cohort of 91 of 146 examinees who passed passing in the elementary education category, resulting in a 62.33% institutional passing rate, with first-time takers achieving an impressive 87.50% success rate. Meanwhile, in the secondary level, 138 out of 222 examinees passed, securing an overall institutional passing rate of 62.16%, with first-time takers posting a 90.08% success rate.

The excellent performance of SSU’s graduates in the LEPT reflects the university’s dedication to academic excellence and teacher education. The institution continues to cultivate highly skilled educators who contribute meaningfully to the field of education.
