MANILA, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU) gained prestigious accolades as the 2024 Palladium Awardee (Hall of Famer) and 2024 Platinum Awardee for the 5th Consecutive Year during the ITSO Presidents’ Summit and General Assembly held today, April 10, 2025 at the Sequoia Hotel Aseana Manila, Philippines.
The 2024 Palladium Award is the highest recognition given by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), and was given today to only six (6) institutions across the country, including Ateneo de Manila University, Caraga State University, Central Mindanao University, De La Salle University, and UP Manila—the first batch of awardees for the said accolade. Moreover, the Palladium Award is exclusively conferred upon “Hall of Famers” and institutions with international patent holdings.
This first batch of Palladium Awardees are given free access to the Orbit Express Database which has a subscription rate of 100,000.00Php. Orbit Express is a patent searching application dedicated to engineers, researchers and managers who want to quickly and easily obtain information in their technical domain: patent and scientific and technical publications.
Alongside this prestigious award, SSU was also given the 2024 Platinum Awardee for the 5th Consecutive Year (since 2020) as one of the top patent filers in the country.
The awards were received by SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, SSU IPTBDO Director Dr. Vivian L. Moya, and Head of Innovation Services Engr. Nikko Ardel Floretes.
