HINABANGAN, Samar — In line with the extension program, Project TEACH (Transforming, Enhancing, and Accelerating Competencies for Holistic and Sustainable Human-Social Development), Samar State University’s (SSU) Center for Lifelong Learning (CeLL), established a significant partnership with the 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division of the Philippine Army for its Civil Military Operation Competency Enhancement Training (CMOCET) through a training program held on July 8-9, 2024 at the Philippine Army, Camp Maj. Eugenio S. Daza, Brgy. Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar, Philippines.
The first day of the training program was led by Ms. Lyme F. Correche, faculty member of SSU College of Education (CoEd). Ms. Correche discussed the fundamentals of community organizing. The participants were guided through the steps of community organizing, learned how to engage with the community and the importance of building strong and coordinated community through systematic and strategic organizing efforts. Furthermore, Ms. Glory Grace Godin-Floretes, also a faculty member of CoEd, provided in-depth exploration of project management and the intersection of project management and community organizing. Interactive role plays on community organizing were administered. The second and third day of the training focused on crafting project proposals and role play activities led by Ms. Alona Medalia C. Gabejan, CoEd faculty member.
Through this partnership, the Project TEACH proves to be a relevant initiative that will help the Philippine Army build stronger and more resilient communities.
