CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines – Alongside the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP), Samar State University (SSU) hosted the 3-day “Seminar-Workshop on Basic Records and Archives Management (BRAM) and Technical Assistance on the Establishment of Agency Disposition Schedule.” The activity commenced on June 18, 2024 at the SSU Convention Center in Catbalogan City, Samar, and is set to conclude today, June 20.
Participated by a total of 57 Unit Document Controllers (UDC) from across all SSU campuses, the seminar-workshop aimed to boost the personnel’s knowledge, skills, and approach towards a systematic and efficient records management practices.
In his Opening Message, SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia emphasized the significance of such capability-building activities to the overall wellbeing of the academic institution.
“They [Records Offices] are the cornerstone of our accountability and transparency within our institution, and they serve as a strong support to an informed decision-making by the management,” President Palencia remarked.
The first day of the seminar-workshop highlighted the discussion of Mr. Kit P. Toling, NAP Supervising Records Management Analyst, on the topic of “Republic Act 9470: Introduction to Records Management and Archives Management Program (RAMP) Records Creation and Control.” Meanwhile, the second day focused on talks and workshops on records disposition administration, records center and archives administration, and security of records, by Mr. Jhonley Joseph L. Item, NAP Records Management Analyst, and Mr. Toling respectively.
As the seminar-workshop concludes today, the final topic on, “Technical Assistance on the Establishment of Agency Records Disposition Schedule,” will be discussed by Mr. Item.
The NAP regularly conducts trainings with government offices and academic institutions on records management and disposition administration to continually capacitate government workers along the mentioned areas.
