TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — In line with its 30th Founding Anniversary and 4th National Higher Education Celebration, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) including Samar State University during the Gawad Parangal 2024 held last May 24 at the Doña Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Educational Foundation, Inc., Tacloban City, Philippines.
The University’s topnotchers in various licensure examinations including Lorelie Charresse Cris Pomentil (4th Placer, November 2022 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination), Christine Jude M. Bentazor (8th Placer, March 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Secondary Level), and Charles B. Gabon (9th Placer, November 2023 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination) were awarded with Certificates of Recognition. SSU was also among HEIs which were given accolades for International Recognition for WURI and QS Stars University Ratings.
The awards were conferred by the Director of CHED Region Office VIII, Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, and was received by SSU President, Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, alongside SSU’s Dean of College of Nursing and Health Science, Dr. Dolores Arteche. Ms. Betanzor was also present to personally receive her certificate.
The Gawad Parangal 2024 was a success as it was attended by HEI Presidents, representatives, and honorees of the Eastern Visayas region and as it showed value to HEIs’ efforts and accomplishments in various core functions.
