SAN JOSE DE BUAN, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU), together with the local government unit (LGU) of San Jose de Buan, launched the Project RISYO (Recreation Integration for Sustainable Youth Organization) in San Jose de Buan, Samar on April 26, 2024. The partnership aims to empower out-of-school youth and increase the productivity of the local community.
Mr. Jonas Fabillar, SSU-Paranas Campus faculty, introduced Project RISYO to the partner community, and gave an orientation of the series of activities to be undertaken under the collaborative project. On the other hand, Ms. Rinaliza Gabon, staff of SSU’s Center for Lifelong Learning (CeLL), discussed the background, thrusts, and priorities of the center.
Another highlight of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) underscoring the pledgers’ commitment to youth empowerment.
Attended by Mr. Sonny Moreno of the San Jose de Buan LGU, Ms. Checlet Rebato of the SIRAK Kabataan and Pag-asa Youth Association Philippines (PYAP), and Mr. Ricky Ortiz, an SSU cultural exchange student, the event proved promising as the project’s potential impact on the community and the youth sector was made known.
