SSU hosts PAFTE 8 Regional Pre-Service Teachers’ Congress 2024

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), Inc. administered its Regional Pre-service Teachers’ Congress last Monday, March 25 (24), at the Samar State University Gymnasium, Catbalogan City, Philippines.

Envisioning a professional learning community of world-class teacher educators, the assembly was participated by a total of 1,206 delegates coming from different State Universities and Colleges in the Eastern Visayas. The congress held the theme, “Educators of Tomorrow: Braving the World with Vision, Understanding, Clarity and Adaptability (VUCA).”

The day-long activity highlighted important talks on transformative teaching approaches, success stories and insights from selected topnotchers in the Philippine Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT), and updates from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Serving as speakers were Dr. Elena B. De Luna (Asst. Schools Division Superintendent, DepEd Calbayog City Division), Dr. Armond M. Englis (Regional Director, PRC Tacloban), and Mr. Ariem V. Cinco (DepEd Regional Office-8). Selected LEPT top achievers in the region namely Christine Jude M. Betanzor (Top 8 of LEPT March 2023, SSU), Rhea Mae C. Baillo (Top 6 of LET September 2022, ESSU), and Jessica V. Pagallaman (Top 6 of LET September 2021, EVSU) also provided insights and inspiration in claiming success during the licensure exams.

Also in attendance was the former SSU President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, who gave an inspirational message during the opening program.

PAFTE Region 8 annually hosts a congress for pre-service teachers in Eastern Visayas to provide them with up-to-date knowledge, skills, and strategies that will boost their readiness for the teaching profession. This year marks the resumption of the face-to-face assembly after a few of years of administering it virtually.
