LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA—In a move aimed at bolstering academic collaboration and promoting equality and reciprocity, Samar State University (SSU) and the University of the Philippines—Los Baños (UPLB) ceremonially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held at the Executive Conference Room, Office of the Chancellor, UPLB on February 23 (24), marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of mutual higher educational advancement.
By signing the MoU, both Universities pledge to support and carry out a number of initiatives that center around information sharing, capacity-building, professor, researcher, and student exchanges, cooperative research and extension projects, and general academic cooperation. The agreement underscores the importance of fostering a robust environment for learning, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
Attended by SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso; UPLB’s Chancellor Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr.; Director of the Office for Institutional Development in Higher Education (OIDHE) Dr. Jenielyn T. Padrones; and Program Coordinators of OIDHE Dr. Alona C. Linatoc, Asst. Prof. Julie Aiza L. Mandap, and Asst. Prof. Roderick L. Catriz, the ceremonial signing jumpstarts a highly potential partnership.
“This MoU is our way of co-creating in Higher Education. We wanted education to be inclusive, transformative, and accessible,” expressed Chancellor Camacho.
Similarly, Dr. Cardoso echoed the same sentiments, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in advancing educational excellence. ” We look forward to UPLB’s transformational contributions as we change the narratives of Samar and Samarnons,” expressed Dr. Cardoso.
