CATBALOGAN CITY─ In a grand celebration of academic achievement, the 88th Commencement Exercises were held consecutively on June 5-6 (23) at Samar State University (SSU) gymnasium. The event marked a significant milestone for the graduating students who were honored for their dedication and hard work throughout their academic journey.
Under the theme, “Sustaining Quality Education for Lifelong Learning,” the commencement ceremony encapsulated SSU’s commitment to providing an education that goes beyond the classroom, fostering lifelong learning and personal growth.
Serving as this year’s Commencement Speaker was the Department of Trade and Industry Regional Director Celerina T. Bato, CESO III who shared her experiences and insights and emphasized the significance of nurturing a passion for learning that extends far beyond graduation day.
“The theme underscores the significance of quality education for lifelong learning and sustainability… Continue to yearn for learning as learning is lifelong and a continuous process,” RD Bato said.
Also present in the ceremony was CHED Commissioner and Chair of the University’s Board of Regents, Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag who declared that the Kamagi is now and beyond SSU’s new and official academic habiliment and regalia.
A total of 1, 830 graduates were individually recognized for their remarkable accomplishments. They beamed with pride as faculty members, proud parents, and friends witnessed their milestone─ the wearing of their Kamagi (SSU’s official Academic Regalia) and receiving of their well-deserved diplomas.
The 88th Commencement Exercises of the University embodies the spirit of academic excellence and celebrates the achievements of graduates who will embark on their professional journeys and carry with them the invaluable lessons learned from the University as they prepare to make a difference in their chosen fields.
