President Cardoso serves as Panelist at 3rd Annual HLU Conference in Florida, USA

CATBALOGAN CITY─ Serving as one of the panelists among an audience of leaders, educators, and pioneers in higher education worldwide in the 3rd Annual Hanseatic League of Universities Conference held on May 15-17 (23) in Florida, USA is Samar State University (SSU) President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso.

Dr. Cardoso shared her presentation titled “Building Resilience through Innovation: The Samar State University Experience” under the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Sustainable Cities of the Future session as the track concentrated on renewable resources, future cities’ administration, and wise decision-making. Specifically, the presentations under the panel delve into technologies and tactical methods to more effectively handle the most pressing water-energy problems and investigate the barriers that industrial cities will encounter when they transform into resilient cities of the future enhancing local communities and providing quality life to their citizens.

Hosted by the Florida Gulf Coast University and under the theme “Vectors of Resilience”, the conference aimed on sharing how higher education institutions handled the unforeseen difficulties encountered recently and how they’ve adapted and modified strategies, then flourished despite the adversities.

Together with Dr. Cardoso are Vice President for Research and Extension Services Engr. Mirador G. Labrador and Center for Engineering, Science and Technology Innovation Director Engr. Jon Alvin L. Macariola, the project leaders who brought SSU to rank 1st under the Fourth Industrial Revolution category in the 2022 World Universities with Real Impact (WURI).

With SSU’s significant participation in the conference, the University feels honored and privileged to be joining the prestigious event and celebrating the growth and resilience of higher education institutions while also learning from the experiences and accomplishments of forward-thinking universities around the world.
