CATBALOGAN CITY— Now on its 7th year, the iPOVCON is set to happen on October 2023 following a virtual inking of a Memorandum of Agreement with 16 local Universities and three (3) international Universities on April 19 (23).
The Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development conference (iPOVCON) is an annual event that provides platform to researchers, government leaders, private individuals, and students in highlighting poverty mitigation studies, programs, and practices. Since 2017, the confab ushered poverty alleviation warriors into various themes including “Addressing Poverty Challenges through Multidisciplinary Research and Collaborations” (2017), “Poverty: What do we know? What should we do?” (2018), “Capitalizing Filipino Culture and Transforming Communities into a Globally Competitive Countryside” (2019), “Living and Rising above the Crisis” (2020), “Reinventing Resilience, Empowering Citizenry” (2021), and “Convergence of Borderless Opportunities to End Poverty” (2022).
This year and under the theme “Breaking the Cycle of Poverty through Health and Innovation”, it is expected that more research enthusiasts and anti-poverty advocates will present and share their relevant researches, best practices, and impactful initiatives at the confab.
In support to this initiative and will serve as National Collaborators are Batangas State University, Biliran Province State University, Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, Carlos Hilado Memorial State University, Central Philippines State University, Eastern Samar State University, Eastern Visayas State University, Leyte Normal University, Northwest Samar State University, Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology, Palompon State of Technology, Philippine Normal University, Saint Paul School of Professional Studies, Southern Leyte State University, University of Eastern Philippines, and Visayas State University as SSU’s Co-Host.
With this National Collaborators and having International Universities, specifically the Dong Thap University and Tra Vinh University in Vietnam and the Karabuk University in Turkey joining the event as International Collaborators, the confab reaches another milestone as it expands its network for the mutual goal of ending poverty across borders.
