CATBALOGAN CITY— Samar State University placed 53rd in the Philippines and 7216th in the world, 3 and 294 notches higher, respectively from its previous rankings while retaining its regional rank in the latest Webometrics Ranking of Higher Education Institutions worldwide released on January 2023.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is a project of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research unit of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), the largest public research organization in Spain whose main goal is to promote scientific research in order to advance nations’ technological and scientific agenda for the welfare of its citizens.
This ranking used 3 indicators: Visibility (Web contents Impact), Transparency or Openness (Top cited researchers), and Excellence or Scholar (Top cited papers). And as such, the University got 16219, 5402, and 6057, respectively making it impactful along missions expected from an HEI.
With 31,000 HEIs worldwide and 365 in the Philippines ranked by Webometrics, SSU shall continue to put forward its best practices and strategies that will help increase quantity and quality of web contents and researches.
