CATBALOGAN CITY- After successfully passing the evaluation conducted by the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute’s (DOST-SEI) Project STRAND (Science and Mathematics Education under the Science and Technology Regional Alliance of Universities for National Development) led by the Former DOST Secretary, Prof. Fortunato Dela Peña on January 10 (22), Samar State University (SSU) was recommended as possible delivering institution under the aforementioned project.
Prof. Dela Peña together with the University of the Cordilleras (UC) Innovation and Technology Transfer Center Director – Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag, Scholarship Technical Coordinator and Information Officer – Dr. Ramil T. Uy, Project Technical Assistant III – Ms. Ma. Angela G. Panganiban evaluated the program Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) of the SSU-Graduate School along the areas of program, students, faculty, research, and resources.
The Project STRAND aims to strengthen the faculty profile of universities in the provinces by providing graduate scholarships to the faculty members, train high level human resources needed for S&T activities, and provide opportunities to talented and deserving S&T professionals in the provinces.
Looking forward to spur research and development activities in the region and become one of the STRAND universities, SSU shall venture on strategies to make these goals achievable.
