CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) through one of its research center, Intellectual Property Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO) brought Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Business Management (TBM) around Region VIII through the IP Caravan 2022 on July 20-22 (22). Specifically, these projects and services under the umbrella of IPTBDO are the following: (1) Technology Business Incubation – LAMBAT; (2) IP Management Program for Academic Institutions Commercializing Technologies (IMPACT); (3) Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE); (4) Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM); (5) Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO).
The powerhouse team of IPTBDO led by Director Dr. Vivian L. Moya made its first stop in Leyte Normal University (LNU) wherein SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso and LNU President Dr. Evelyn B. Aguirre attended the opening program.
They also shared the IP basics in Eastern Visayas State University – Burauen Campus (EVSU), and Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT).
Dr. Moya explained that the caravan was conducted to introduce and provide the IP services that could help other institutions.
“We want to extend and reach out to external universities, institutions and organizations to raise public awareness in intellectual property and its importance in the academe and research sectors,” she stated.
SSU-IPTBDO is open to more opportunities of training more institutions in the region.
