SSU TBI-LAMBAT strengthens patent distinction through patent search, mining workshop

CATBALOGAN CITY – The Technology Based Incubation-Local Alliance of Marine-Based Businesses and Food Processing Technology (TBI-LAMBAT) of Samar State University (SSU) aims to continue its winning streak as one of the top patent filers in the Philippines by conducting the Patent Mining and Patent Search Training and Workshop on May 12-13 (22) at the SSU Convention Center.

SSU TBI-LAMBAT headed by the SSU-Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO) Director Dr. Vivian L. Moya invited participants from the University and from other agencies as a follow-up activity of the recently concluded Patent Drafting Workshop to further equip them on the know-how of Patent.

Topics along Patent Information, Classification of Patent Documents, Patent Search, Intellectual Property System and its Relevance to the Academe, and Patent Mining were tackled during the two-event by Engr. Nikko Ardel Floretes, Engr. Raven Tabiongan, Engr. Jan Floro Bautista, Dr. Ronald L. Orale, and Engr Maria Concepcion Zabala, respectively.

Also gracing the event were Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) Executive Director Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, DOST- Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) Chief Science Research Specialist Ms. Russell Pili.

After the workshop, the different teams presented their patent outputs where participants from Eastern Visayas Regional Science High School (EVRSHS) emerged as First Placer, followed by SSU-Paranas Campus and the College of Education.
