SSU-GAD frontrunners set off to UEP for PGA Orientation

CATARMAN, NORTHERN SAMAR – Samar State University-Gender and Development (SSU-GAD) team headed to the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) to join the Orientation on Participatory Gender Audit (PGA) on May 14 (22).

PGA is a tool and a process based on participatory methodology that aims to promote organizational learning on mainstreaming gender practically and effectively.

SSU-GAD Director Dr. Marlyn G. Lanzarrote, SSU-College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) GAD Focal Person Ms. Alevir De Guia, and SSU Board Secretary Mr. Arthur Poblete attended the orientation which aims to craft policies and processes imbued with the principles of gender equality.

Spearheading the orientation was the President of the Philippine Normal University Dr. Bert J. Tuga who emphasized that the employees and officials in the workplace must be adequately apprised of the importance of gender equality especially in the universities’ policies and processes.

He also shared their PGA journey and the result of the findings given by their external panel from India and Norway.

Also present during the event was the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag as guest.

SSU is also looking forward to apply PGA at the University to promote a smart and world class university that is an enabler of men and women empowerment.
