CATBALOGAN CITY – “Patent, publish, and profit – this is our new mantra,” Samar State University Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (SSU-IPTBDO) Director Dr. Vivian L. Moya said during the Patent Drafting Workshop on April 7 (22) at the SSU College of Arts and Sciences Building –Audio-Visual Room (CAS-AVR).
During her talk, Dr. Moya emphasized the importance of safeguarding any product, design or process through patent, making the patent application publicly available, and generating profit from the patent.
75 on-site and Zoom participants combined were informed on the topics along Intellectual Property System, Requirement of a Patentable Invention, Claim Drafting (Chemical & Non-Chemical) and Specification Drafting (Chemical & Non-Chemical).
Dr. Moya together with IPTBDO Technical Expert Engr. Raven Tabiongan, SSU-Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) Manager Engr. Nikko Ardel Floretes, and IPTBDO Tech Transfer/Commercialization Services Head Engr. Jan Floro Bautista served as speaker- mentors of the workshop.
