CATBALOGAN CITY – As Catbalogan City was selected as one of the 7 cities in the country to be chosen for the QBO x Cities: Developing Startup Cities through the initiative of Samar State University Technology Business Incubator-Local Alliance of Marine-based Businesses and Food Technology (SSU TBI-LAMBAT), an online meet up among Catbaloganons dubbed as QBOxDICT QLITAN: Catbalogan was held on November 24 (21) to jumpstart the line-up of activities aimed at strengthening the startup community.
QLITAN is an open gathering of local community members. In fact, it is open to students, SMEs, founders, and representatives from institutions like the academe and the public and private sectors who would like to get to know the local community and share their insights on what they want to see for the city in terms of innovation and startups. More than 60 individuals showed up in attendance.
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Provincial Officer of Samar Provinces─ Engr. Dante Rosales, Catbalogan City Councilor─ Hon. Stephany Uy-Tan, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Samar Provincial Director─Engr. Meilou C. Macabare graced the online gathering.
During the event, the community was asked how they envision Catbalogan City in terms of innovation. And in turn, after the keynote talk of Hon. Tan, the organizers synthesized the session by asking “How can attendees be involved in the startup space?”
The activity was a success through the assistance of DICT Visayas Cluster 2 and the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) in partnership with QBO Innovation Hub.
