CATBALOGAN CITY – Continuing its ambition of making an innovative city out of Catbalogan, Samar State University Technology Business Incubator-Local Alliance of Marine-based Businesses and Food Technology (SSU TBI-LAMBAT) in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), BitsnBytes Catbalogan Systems (BBCS), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), conducted the first-ever Catbalogan City tech bootcamp which kickstarted on September 13 (21) through virtual and face-to-face facilitation.
The tech bootcamp will enable Catbalogan City participants with little technical skills to focus on the most important aspects of a subject and immediately apply their new skills to solve real-world problems.
According to Dr. Vivian L. Moya, Director of the Intellectual Property Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO) and TBI-LAMBAT Project Leader, the event will encourage innovation and strengthen technical skills of the participants in preparation for the Catbalogan Hackathon 2021.
City Mayor Dexter Uy also expressed his full support to the event acknowledging the impact it could do to the progress of the city.
The event was opened to more than a hundred interested technopreneurs in Catbalogan City for free who will be taught on App and Website Design Using Figma for UI / UX, Design Thinking: Turn Your Ideas Into A Business, Food Tech Processing, How to Pitch your Ideas in 10 minutes or Less, Internet of Things (IoT), Introduction to Pneumatic and Overview of Renewable Energy, Product Branding and Packaging Design, Mobile Application Development using Xamin (.net), Website Development using WordPress, 3D Modeling and Rendering, and SQL Training for Beginners.

Valencia (Educator/Corporate Trainer/Innovation Advocate), Ms. Elaine Jayne P. Limbaga (DTI-Samar), Mr. Elmar G. Obrero (Samar State University), Ms. Claire P. Fernandez (DICT Leyte Provincial Officer), and Engr. Abegail G. Bordios (Instructor/Fabrication Laboratory Manager, Samar State University) served as lecturers on the five-day training.
The bootcamp will continue throughout the week until September 17 (21).
