CATBALOGAN CITY―In consonance to its goal of ensuring globally competent and adaptive educators, Samar State University (SSU) commenced its week-long Annual University-Wide Faculty Development Training on August 2, 20 (21) at various venues within the university premises, in consideration of the health protocols.
This year’s training centers on the theme Trends of Global Higher Education Landscape: Adaptive Strategies on Flexible Learning Modality for Technology Challenged Communities.
In an Opening Remarks by the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso accentuated the need to develop resilience in the education system to continuously respond to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis. She added that teachers are not just in the institution to teach but to inspire and transform students.
Dr. Nelly Z. Limbadan, the Day 1 speaker of the training, activated the event with her talk on Understanding Self: Organizational Development and Well-Being.
She highlighted facts, truths, and realities that have become evident since the onset of the pandemic and presented three ways on how one can make sense of his/her adjustment strategies including (1) adapting a resilient model or being able to adapt or bounce back when things do not go as planned; (2) using effective stress management approach in order to help keep things in perspective, and (3) never losing sight of what truly matters.
The training will continue in the next four days and is hoped that a high enthusiasm will be sustained until the end in order to fully realize the purpose of the annual activity for teaching personnel.
