SSU-STCBF joins Project LingAP, organizes community pantry

CATBALOGAN CITY – As part of the Good Agri-Aqua Livelihood Initiatives towards National Goals-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (GALING-PCAARRD) Program, the S&T Community-Based Farm (STCBF) on Sweet Potato Production in Basey, Samar was invited to be part of the virtual event launching of the “Lingkod Alalay sa Pamayanan (LingAP)” held via Zoom Platform and streamed via Facebook Live on July 30 (21).

In partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU)-Basey, the STCBF through the Balante Women’s Association, the Balante Farmers’ Association, and SSU extension workers, organized a community pantry offering potato processed products such as muffins, fries, cookies and flour, sweet potato tubers, and sweet potato tops which were all produced by the team.

Two hundred fifty (250) locales from the different barangays of Basey, Samar received the sweet potato products.

This STCBF project led by Dr. Marife M. Lacaba of Samar State University (SSU) was one of the partners of the LingAP project along with the Ifugao State University, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, and Los Baños National Crop Research Production Support Center.

Project LingAP is a component of the GALING-PCAARRD Kontra COVID-19 Program which aims to devise new strategies to reach out to people who are mostly confined to their own homes and mobility restricted.
