SSU-GAD pops up ‘Are you gender sensitive?’

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) through the Gender and Development (GAD) Center conducted the Gender Sensitivity Training and Equality on July 7 (21) at the SSU 3F Convention Center.

Headed by the GAD Director Dr. Marlyn G. Lanzarrote, the training was conducted to raise awareness of how gender plays a role in life through their treatment of others.

Fifty eight SSU faculty participated the event and were asked, “Are you sensitive?”

The event was graced by the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso and guest speakers, Ms. Myra Gay M. Tambor of the Samar Island Women Action Network, Atty. Lynor Abotog-Labine, and Dr. Ronald L. Orale, Vice President for Research and Extension Services.

Topics tackled include 1) Sex and Gender, 2) Gender Roles, Stereotypes and Gender Ideology, 3) Sexual Orientation and Society, 4) Sexual Behavior and Society, and 5) Women’s Rights and Gender Equality.

The event culminated with “Zumbabae” which enjoined everyone to a Zumba Workout at the SSU grounds.
