CATBALOGAN CITY– Samar State University (SSU) joined the Press Conference on Smart Campus and Updates on Limited Face-to-Face Classes with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) yesterday, June 24 (21) via Zoom web conferencing and Facebook live streaming.
Highlighted in the virtual event was the ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement signing of 18 qualified Higher Education Institutions who were given fund allocations for their Smart Campus Development Projects.
“The objective is to give (HEIs) an initial assistance to make their campuses smarter so that when we slowly bring back our students to the campuses, they will go back to a campus that has better connectivity, has better facilities, and that they will be able to continue with their flexible learning systems,” said the CHED Chairperson, J. Prosper E. De Vera, III, in a message.
In addition to the 12 Million CHED-supported project titled “Enhancing Samar State University’s Learning Management System”, this 22.8 Million project led by Mr. Zaldy A. Jabiñar, SSU’s Director of Information and Communications Technology, titled “Enhancement and Upgrading of SSU Network System and Internet Connectivity (Voice and Data Communication)” is yet another grant from CHED’s 2 Billion provision for the Smart Campus initiative.
This specific project aims to enhance and upgrade SSU’s existing network, internet connectivity, and other support structure of the University. Once the project successfully takes off, it will surely ensure continues and fast network and internet connectivity resulting to uninterrupted online classes, improve online-based instructions and activities, maximize the utilization of the University’s Learning Management System, expand accessibility to the University’s services and databases, and make data and predictive analytics services available for teaching-learning needs.
And as SSU continues to innovate, build, and serve, this one solves the digital demands of the University, address digital divide, and fully implement the flexible learning modalities in the academe’s new norm.
