SSU students, TES grantees win in Video Contest

CATBALOGAN CITY – Among the more than fifty (50) TES-timony video entries from across the country, Ms. Lyra Ballos and Ms. Jamaica Baylon, TES grantees from Samar State University (SSU) were shortlisted and won the consolation prize in the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) video contest, “Paano Nabago ng Libreng Edukasyon ang Buhay Mo?”

Ms. Ballos and Ms. Baylon were two of the seven winners of the consolation prize who received Php1000.00 during the awarding ceremony held on May 17 (21) at the opening of the 1st National Higher Education Day and CHED’s 27th Founding Anniversary.

Ms. Baylon is a third year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student while Ms. Ballos is a fourth year Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSPsych) student.

The Grand Winner of the TES Video Contest was from the Green Valley College Foundation, Inc. in Region XII, Ms. Liezel Sison, who received Php10,000.00 cash prize. Four (4) other students were chosen as top pick and with most reacts on Facebook.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) continues to strengthen the Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Act or UniFAST law through various Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) for tertiary education to make sure that every student ‘moves forward and claims victory’.

The contest primarily aimed to inspire all TES grantees to pursue their dreams as they journey even in this time of pandemic.
