CATBALOGAN CITY – Bearing this year’s theme, “Restructuring the New Normal School Leadership in Samar”, the first-ever virtual School-Based Management (SBM) Summit of Samar State University (SSU) was held on May 8 (21).
The event was attended by graduate students under Professor Clarita M. Menda’s SBM Course which primarily aimed to enrich their necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude as SBM practitioners.
The Summit was graced by the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso and the Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Esteban A. Malindog.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Samar Division’s SBM Mentors served as Resource Speakers during the event including Dr. Alexanda N. Pelareja (District-In-Charge, Villareal II District), Dr. Julius Verzosa (Teacher-In-Charge, Villareal II Disctrict), Mr. Gerry P. Ocenar (Senior Education Program Specialist, School Management/Monitoring and Evaluation), Dr. Lauro Gacusana (District-In-Charge, Sta. Rita I District), and Dr. Reldin Cajes (Principal, Basey NHS Basey I District).
Topics on 1) People and Talent Management: Most Critical Component in School-Based Management, 2) The Critical Roles of Teachers in School-Based Management, 3) How SBM Mentoring Works in Samar, 4) The Unlimited Power of Innovations and Research: Its Impact to School-Based Management, and 5) School-Community Partnership: Its Essence in Leveling-Up Practices in School-Based Management were tackled during the one-day online seminar.
SSU is forward looking that this year’s Virtual SBM Summit is just the 1st of the many to come.
