SSU joins Higher Education celebrations

CATBALOGAN CITY―Samar State University (SSU) joined the celebrations of the 1st National Higher Education Day and the 27th CHED Founding Anniversary yesterday, May 19 (21) at the Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay Leyte.

Participated by private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and 10 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the region including Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Leyte Normal University (LNU), Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), VSU, and SSU, the event worked under the theme, “Padyak! Moving Forward, Claiming Victory for Philippine Higher Education (;) Pamantasan: Pandayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”.

Highlighted in the event were SUCs Covid-Related Initiatives, Best Practices along Flexible Learning, Stories of TES (Tertiary Education Subsidy) grantees, the schools’ promotional videos with their respective President’s Message, and the webinar on Covid-19 vaccine titled “Are you willing to take the shot?” given by Dr. Adelito Posas, FPCP, FPCCP.

In the keynote speech of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson, J. Prospero E. De Vera III, he strongly stated saying, “We will never waver in our continuing quest to further expand access and equity to quality education as we transition into the new normal. Let the National Higher Education Day remind us of the gains that we have collectively achieved and our collective efforts to do better in the coming months and years. In collectively, therefore, we say ‘Tara na at pumadyak to claim victory for Philippine Higher Education. “
