CATBALOGAN CITY― Samar State University (SSU) received a communication on April 30 (21) from the Department of Trade and Industry- Competitiveness Bureau (DTI-CB) dated April 23 (21) informing the University of its selection as a recipient of the Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management. Meaning, SSU has already achieved significant progress in building sound processes.
Also stated in the letter is the awarding body’s coordination with the Office of the President (Republic of the Philippines) for the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Conferment Ceremony for SSU.
Early this year and on the 23rd PQA Assessment Cycle, SSU submitted for a week-long organizational performance assessment. The University was evaluated along seven (7) criteria: (1) Leadership, (2) Strategy, (3) Customers, (4) Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management, (5) Workforce, (6) Operations, and (7) Results.
“The 4-day PQA site visit was enriching. Truly, achieving a vision is not an easy task nor a shortcut journey. It is a product of day-to-day quality performance and exemptional management,” said Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, the University President, in her closing message during the virtual site visit.
SSU has already committed to use DTI-CB’s feedback report as a guide in achieving performance excellence in the delivery of its products and services.
And while the conferment ceremony is yet to be scheduled, the University will continue its pursuit towards achieving Total Quality Management. Because SSU never stops to innovate, build, and serve.
