SSU jumpstarts virtual PEP Workshop

CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) through the Student Welfare and Development Services (SWDS) conducted its first virtual Pre-Employment Preparation (PEP) workshop via Zoom on April 14 (21).

SSU graduating students went through a one on one mock job/employment interview with the CEO of MR Outsource Inc., CEO of Dreamwork Co-working Space, and funding member of Digital Career Advocates of the Philippines (DCAP), Ms. Regina Evangelista.

She shared the ‘formula’ for answering questions in an interview.

“In answering questions, you may use the AREM pattern which stands for Answer, Reason, Example, and Message or through the STAR pattern which stands for Situation, Tasks, Action, and Result,” Ms. Evangelista lectured.

As a bonus, she evaluated a resume submitted by one of the participants.

After tackling the tips for job interview, she also served as the interviewer during the workshop.

Jackey Boy Basal, Hyannia Deanelle Comilan, Aura Marie Velasco, Jessalyn Daras, and Rudio Cabrillas from the different colleges took the challenge of going through an interview.

The PEP workshop allowed SSU graduating students to experience a job interview and gave them a ‘feel’ of what the real world of work is like.
