Students and Parents attend SSU’s Consultative Meeting

SAMAR STATE UNIVERSITY –The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs & Services (OVPSAS) and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) organized a Consultative Meeting with students and their parents on March 30, 2021 via Zoom and streamed live via the SSU Customer Assistance Desk Facebook page.

RA 10931 otherwise known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017 and Academic Matters were primarily discussed.

Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante, the Vice President for Student Affairs & Services, welcomed the attendees and specified the purpose of the conduct of the meeting which is to give clarifications and provide beneficial information to students and their parents.

The University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, on the other hand, recognized the parents’ sacrifices for their children and motivated students to “Grab every opportunity for your studies and dream big—for yourselves, for the community, or for the country as a whole,” she pressed on.

Lights were shed on Free Higher Education, specifically on procedures to be TES (Tertiary Education Subsidy) grantee/s, approval of scholarship applications, and other important things related to scholarship.

Also included in the discussion were New Guidelines & Grading System for Field Study, Teaching Internship, Related Learning Experience, and On-the-Job Training which were all covered by Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Providing support to students and their parents is  SSU’s one way of living by its mantra: to innovate, build, and serve.
