CATBALOGAN CITY – The Local Government of Catbalogan considered the adoption of the program of Ms. Mae V. Cañal of Samar State University (SSU) on “Psychoeducational Intervention Program for Children and Adolescents in Street Situation” through a Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement on February 24, 2020.
Hon. Dexter M. Uy, City Mayor, was present during the ceremony together with the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso; Vice President for Research and Extension Services, Dr. Ronald L. Orale; the proponent of the program, Ms. Cañal; and the heads of the agencies tapped by the City Government.
Hon. Uy agreed that the activities will be done through the help of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Rural Health Unit (RHU), and the City Youth Development Office (CYDO). In return, SSU pledged to train the staff of CSWDO for the conduct of the group dynamic activities.
SSU will also facilitate life skills training and activities on behavioural training of children and parents, conduct literacy enhancement on children especially on areas in mathematics, and reading and comprehension.
It will also provide training assistance on livelihood to parents and allow the use of SSU facilities for the conduct of the activities subject to availability of the venue.
The program is implemented mainly to address cases of street children and of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).
