Catbalogan City – The Technology Based Incubation-Local Alliance of Marine-Based Businesses and Food Processing Technology (TBI-LAMBAT) inked a Licensing Agreement and Term of Reference with nine (9) start-ups last February 19 at the Research and Innovation Conference Room.
Dr. Vivian Moya, TBI Manager, emphasized the importance of transforming research ideas into commercialization.
“Samar State University is making a milestone through the TBI-LAMBAT. This intervention is to let our research initiatives to be felt by the community,” she said.
These are the start-ups which signed contract with Samar State University (SSU):
- Tambal by Rudio M. Cabrillas, Jr. and Mel Francis G. Separa: Tambal aims to help people in need of medical treatment by giving them fast and reliable data of where to get such treatment. There could be a lot of clinics available in a certain area, and deciding of where to get the treatment that a patient need might be confusing. Every physician has their own field of expertise, hence, lookinh for clinics or physicians that could best help a patient could cost a lot of time and money. Tambal is capable of giving the user’s choices of where to get medication based on their current location. Algorithms are made to give best results based on the background and expertise that the clinic offers. In addition, it also gives the users reliable first aid remedies that patients could follow especially during emergency situations. By simply utilizing an electronic device that is capable of browsing the internet, the users can access the website anytime and anywhere.
- Bites ‘n Fishes by Janet D. Caber, Juliet T. Roma, Beanida P. Gadin, and Jonil D. Truelda: Bites ‘n Fishes features delicious, healthy food mostly from local available fish, ready-to-eat food. Its main products are Samar delicacies such as fishcake and its variants and other innovative marine and agricultural – value added products.
- Basta Saging by Charito C. Cabrera: Basta Saging is a food cart business concept featuring different dishes using various kinds of Bananas. This dishes will include main courses, dessert and pasalubong. This idea came about because Samar has an abundant supply of Bananas but is not yet fully utilized. Innovative products will be served to the target market. The flagship product is SAHONG, a new developed product consisting of BANANA filled with ground TAHONG, wrapped in lumpia wrapper, thus, creating a one-dish meal. Other products that are affordable yet tasty and can satisfy expectations of our customer will also be developed.
- ECHO: Echo is a mobile communication mobile application that enables concerned citizens to quickly report emergency/accidents to designated response teams by means of pinning the exact location where the actual incident happens, then sending it off real-time. The application will send direct route (shortest path) between the sender and receiver. Features include photo and video attachments.
- Nora’s Seafood Products: Nora’s Seafood Products features different delectable seafood products that can be sold as pasalubong. It includes Deboned Milkfish, Fish Nuggets, Squid Rings, Fish Lumpia and many others.
