Samar State University (SSU) is gearing up for the Chinese New Year Celebration tomorrow as it opened its gate this morning, January 24, for the Lion Dance rendered by the Catbalogan Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, Inc. Lion Dance Troupe.
The lion, being a powerful symbol of power, wisdom, and good fortune, danced around the campus with clamorous drumbeats and cymbals to bring luck to the SSU community. It is believed to chase away evil spirits and bring hapiness, longevity, and good luck.
SSU is one with our Chinese-Filipino brethren in this celebration.
