SSU bags awards during ViCAARP Cluster 2 RDE Review

Samar State University (SSU) once again proved its knack on research as several faculty place 2nd and 3rd during the 2019 Cluster 2 Inter-Agency RDE Review/Symposium at the SSU Convention Center on September 12-13, 2019.

Bearing the theme “Advancing Sustainable Communities through a Collaborative R&D in Agri-fishery Industry”, the ViCAARP has chosen winners which would qualify for the Cluster 3 RDE Review.

Ruel Amascual was awarded with the Silver Award under the category “Completed Research” with his study entitled “Histamine Profile of Dried-Salted Fish sold in Local Supermarkets of Samar, Philippines”.

The Bronze Awardees for the “Completed Research” category were Diana Shane Balindo and Janet Caber with their studies entitled “Sex Ratio and Gonadosomatic Index of Nemipterus japonicus (Bloch, 1791) in Coastal Water of Samar, Philippines” and “Optimization of Crab Powder Seasoning produced from Blue Swimming Crab Stock”, respectively.

The sole winner for the category “Completed Extension Project” was Dr. Jonah Gay Pedraza who won a Bronze Award for her paper entitled “Catbalogan Barangay Development Planning using the Sustainable Integrated Management and Planning to Local Ecosystem (SIMPLE)”.

Hosted by the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Program (ViCAARP), the event was graced by pool of experts with Dr. Othello B. Capino as the Chairperson of the Evaluation Panel.
