Prof. Jhonil C. Bajado, Head of SSU Museum and Archives and Adviser of the Social Studies Circle, had attended the 6th International Conference on History and Culture organized by the International Council for Historical-Cultural Cooperation in Southeast Asia (ICCH-SEA) thru Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia and the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization of International Islamic University of Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM) last September 3-5, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The conference theme “Colonial Period in the Malay Archipelago: Civilizational Issues” convened historians and scholars in Asia and the other parts of the world. The apparrent next Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dató Seri Anwar Ibrahim served as the Keynote Speaker.
Mr. Bajado was one of the nine (9) members of the Philippine contingent and the only representative from the Visayas area who shared the state of affairs of teaching history and cultural heritage in the Philippine academe. Other Filipino scholars include Dr. Ma. Luisa Camagay (U.P. Professor Emeritus), Dr. Fernando A. Santiago (De la Salle University), Prof. Ian Christopher Alfonso (National Historical Commission of the Philippines), among others.
The attendance of Prof. Bajado in the said conference was fully supported by the Samar State University academic council, thru its Board of Regents, in its aim of internationalization and further pursuit of academic integrity and upholding the university mantra of quality and service excellence.
