Samar State University, Catbalogan City – SSU’S Batch ’92, host batch for this year’s 41st Grand Alumni Homecoming themed “The Homecoming of the Stars”, will grant the first distinction of being the Most Outstanding Alumni from any of the four alumni groups: (1) High School, (2) College – (2A) College of Engineering, (2B) College of Arts and Sciences, (2C) College of Education, (2D) College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, (2E) College of Nursing and Health Sciences, (2F) College of Industrial Technology, (2G) Paranas Campus, (3) Graduate Studies; and (4) Post-Graduate Studies this April 7 during the Grand Night of the said event.

“The outstanding alumni award in the Host Batch’s perspective is for an alumna/alumnus who has become the instrument of transforming communities. These maybe the country, the region, the province, city/municipality, barangay or even his/her own family. He/She may be someone who has, through his/her efforts, changed a company, an office or an organization. The key here is how he has helped the institution change,” Dr. Orale, the batch 92-in-charge of the selection process.

He stated that the batch conceived this idea to realize SSU’s strategic plan which is to strengthen partnership with stakeholders for mutual benefit. This gives an intensified alumni participation in university affairs.

“You see, if we observe the prime universities of the country like DLSU, UP, ADMU and others, we could say that the role of the alumni association is vast. The selection for the Most Outstanding Alumni, we believe, is one way to reinforce this kind of culture,” he added.

The batch underscores the inclusiveness of the search encouraging all alumni who possess the unique quality of TRANSFORMATION and his/her impact to the society regardless of his age, gender, position in the society or economic class.

“The submission of the forms by the nominees will start on the second week of February until February 16. We still encourage everyone to consider this recognition and to get the nomination form at the Research Office of the University,” Dr. Orale stressed, inviting the alumni of the university.

Dr. Orale said that the Most Outstanding Alumni will win more than the cash prize, the recognition of the university and the prestige of being the first model graduate to be distinguished.

“If their nominees are not chosen this year, do not worry, the search will be a regular activity. SSU needs model for its graduates; it will strive to look for them regularly,” he stated.
