Catbalogan – The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. team commended Samar State University’s (SSU) efforts during the three-day Level II accreditation survey visit in SSU Paranas and Mercedes campuses on June 27-29.
AACUP over-all coordinator Dr. Venerando D. Cuñado of Cebu Technological University (CTU) expressed the team’s appreciation for the warm welcome from SSU. He added that the Paranas AACUP team was very proud of the “eagerness to support the quest” of the SSU president, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, to which he described as mainit (effortful/intense).
“In Mercedes campus, Samar State University, we are also happy that those persons involved, especially those coordinators, that they responded and facilitated and participated during those activities,” he added during the closing program, June 29.
Dr. Cuñado also commended Dr. Cardoso for being present during the exit conferences in Paranas and Mercedes, saying that such was his first time to see a president present in all accreditation exit conferences.
Aside from thanking everyone especially the SSU team, the AACUP team leader requested the faculty and staff to help the university president for the development of the university.
The results of the Level II Survey Visit for the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) programs of Paranas campus and for the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd), major in Fishery Education, and Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BS Fisheries) of SSU Mercedes will be acted upon by the AACUP board and will be available in 3-6 months.
The AACUP party, consisted of academics from CTU and Bohol Island State University (BISU), was made up of four specific teams: Dr. Garry L. Dela Cerna (CTU) leads the BSIT team composed of Dr. Emiliano C. Maravilla (BISU), Prof. Israeli S. Caminos (CTU) and Prof. Lorenel D. Gako (CTU); Dr. Evangielyn P. Lumantas (BISU) as leader for BEEd, teamed with Dr. Zarmie Lis R. Briones (CTU), Dr. Maravilla, Prof. Caminos, and Prof. Gako; Dr. Gilda G. Membrillos (CTU), Dr. Lilibeth M. Cambalon (BISU), Prof. Jonita V. Literatus (CTU), Prof. Carmela C. Sarabello (BISU) with team leader Dr. Hermenigelda V. Kiamco comprised the BSEd accrediting team; and Dr. Venerando A. Escabes (CTU), Dr. Cambalon, Prof. Literatus, and Prof. Sarabello with Dr. Daisy V. Dellosa as team leader for BS Fisheries.
Held at the Audio-Visual Center (AVC) of SSU Main Campus, the Level II accreditation survey visit started with an opening program at 8:30 am, June 27, after the party met with Dr. Cardoso during a courtesy call at her office. AACUP was also welcomed by Hon. Sharee Ann Tan-Delos Santos, governor of Samar, and Hon. Stephany Uy-Tan, mayor of Catbalogan City. The teams were presented during the program and were later escorted to Paranas and Mercedes campuses for the accreditation.
The exit conference and closing program took place on June 29, with the former held at the respective campuses in the morning and the latter at the AVC in the afternoon.
