To think and act globally has always been one of the tenets of Samar State University (SSU) President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso since her inception in the office.
This and to uphold commitment on service excellence that SSU initiated an ISO 9001:2008 Awareness Seminar on Internal Quality Audit Training on February 6, 2016 at the CGS Building.
ISO certification will transform the university into a locally confident and globally competitive institution. It, certainly, is a sign of an effective and efficient operation. With an ISO certification, satisfied customers and a better SSU is guaranteed as envisioned by the organization.
ISO 9001: 2008 is an international standard on quality management system. It externally assesses management principles including Customer focus, Leadership, Involvement of people, Process approach, System approach to management, Continual improvement, Fact-based decision making, and Mutually beneficial supplier. ISO 9001: 2008 controls and ensures quality on procedures and processes of an organization.
“ISO refines organization to establish a quality system…,” said Dr. Lanie M. Pacadaljen, Director for Quality Assurance and added that the 3-day seminar workshop will help clarify vague and ambiguous issues regarding ISO.
“With the help of the training, our (SSU) service delivery will be improved,” stated Dr. Esteban Malindog Jr., one of the participants and the focal person for quality assurance of the College of Education.
Mr. Kevin T. Castillon, Team Leader of Anglo Japanese American Registrars and an expert on understanding organizational processes and its customers’ needs, served as the Resource Person.
The training culminated on Thursday, February 9, 2017. It, furthermore, is an ingenuity of the Office of Quality Assurance through the office Vice President for Academic Affairs to gear up for the upcoming ISO 9001:2008 Stage 2 External Audit on March 6-8, 2017.
