The Samar State University is one of the six(6) institutions qualifying the technology pitching competition conducted by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPhil). The event where the competition is held is dubbed as SYNERGY 2016, a venue where leaders/enthusiasts in science and technology research and innovation gathered to discuss current and future trends in high-impact sectors and industries. This year’s theme is “Valuing Creativity, Intensifying Innovation, and Forging Connection”.
Winner of the competition will receive SPRIG grants amounting to PhP 1M to improve project for commercialization. The seven projects from six institutions qualifying this year’s competition are;
- University of Eastern Philippines- Eduaro Zeta Ramis- Portable Vulcanizing Device
- University of the Philippines- Diliman – Carandang, Daway, Barte, Zarco Liongson- Gaia Dam
- University of Santo Tomas – Gonzales& Guanzon – E.A.R.S. (Early Action Response System)
- Adamson University- Small Scale Thermoplastic Recycling Apparatus and Methods for Producing Fiber Strands for Insulation
- Ateneo De Manila University – Dr. Erwin Enriquez- Field Ready Quality Assurance Test Kits and Mobile App for Water Activity and Plant Extract Profile
- Samar State University- John Alvin Macariola- Development of a low-cost wireless sensor device
- Samar State University– John Alvin Macariola- Evasion System for the visually impaired people
