MARABUT, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU), in partnership with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), and the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), is currently spearheading the Preparing for Impact: Finalizing Deliverables and Dissemination Plans Workshop from March 3 to 6, 2025 at Caluwayan Palm Island Resort & Restaurant, Marabut, Samar, Philippines. Under the CHED-funded project named, “Empowering Equity Target Students: Enhancing Access and Success in State Universities and Colleges across Regions I, VIII, and XII, Philippines,” the three universities are currently finalizing project deliverables and dissemination strategies.
The four-day activity is part of the Paglaum kag Pagdaug initiative, which seeks to enhance access and success for equity target students in state universities and colleges across Regions I, VIII, and XII. The program focuses on consolidating reports, refining recommendations, and preparing for the dissemination of research outcomes.
Several guests graced the event, including SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, CHED Region VIII Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, Director IV of the Office of Planning, Research, and Knowledge Management (OPRKM) Dir. Mary Sylvette Gunigundo, OPRKM Project Technical Staff Ms. Jamie Joyce Sese, (OPRKM), Senior Education Program Specialist of CHED Central Office Ms. Mayumi Belanderes.
The morning session featured the consolidation of national and regional reports, combining the efforts of all project members’ insights into the progress of the initiative. Moreover, the afternoon session delved into the inputs of participants on group discussions to refine the reports and consolidated information.
The workshop will continue in the next two days with further refinements, panel discussions, and finalization of recommendations. Key outputs will be presented through a culminating session on March 6, 2025. This collaborative effort among the three academic institutions is an essential step toward strengthening academic research, policy development, and student success in state universities and colleges across Regions I, VIII, and XII.
