BS Psych spearheads First Aid Training
CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University through the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSPsych) faculty, initiated a First Aid and Disaster Risk Management Training attended by 24 participants which included Brgy. Ibol’s local officials and purok leaders last August 22.
Led by the CAS Extension Services coordinator, Mr. Necasio Abuda, the project was able to attain the desirable outcome of capacitating the community in dealing with disaster’s aftermath and equipping them with the basic first aid skills through the help of SSU’s DRRMC Officer Mr. Juniel B. Tagarino.
Statistics have shown that most of the participants scored low on the pre-test then showed an increase on their post-test. The result confirms that the activity was effective and served the objective of the extension activity.
This training was not only intended in managing and reducing injuries and morbidities that result from natural disasters and emergency crises but also an initiative in capacitating communities and building strengths.
