CAS promotes Health and Wellness in Adopted Barangay
Catbalogan City – Samar State University (SSU), in cooperation with the Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSPsych) program, conducted a one-day Seminar-workshop on Health and Wellness Promotion at Brgy. Ibol, Catbalogan City on July 20, 2018.
The said event was joined by 20 barangay officials and purok leaders who actively participated on the different activities which made them aware of their overall health status, reflect on their ways of dealing with stress, managing self and decision making, and lastly, increase their quality of life through the promotion of health and mental wellness.
Studies have shown that some individuals affected by disasters may be at risk of developing long-term mental health problems. Interventions from trained facilitators may deliver preventive measures or programs to develop resilience skills among individuals, families, or groups, as well as help them cope with stress and anxiety.
The training covered topics such as Health and Wellness, Promoting Mental Health, First Aide Training, and Psychological First Aide.
Mr. Necasio Abuda, CAS Extension Coordinator, and Mrs. Mary Jane Cinco, BSPych Chairperson, spearheaded the training sponsored by the university.
